VOLUNTEERING
Make volunteer sign-ups contextual and easy by reaching parents in the same platform they already use for school-wide, classroom, and PTA communication.

Parent engagement increases when parents can sign up for school-wide opportunities, classroom volunteering, and PTA/PTO-run volunteer initiatives in one, unified platform.

From event-based one time volunteer opportunities to traffic guide and lunch monitor duties that reoccur weekly, the system has you covered. The flexible system allows all levels of participation.

Role-based volunteer opportunities allow parents to sign up to donate items for a fundraiser, take on a semester-long role, or help asynchronously with tasks completed remotely.
School volunteer coordination is a lot to manage—sign-ups, updates, questions, and changes. School Signals keeps it all together. Each volunteering includes built-in communication, task details, schedules, and forms, so coordinators can stay organized without extra back-and-forth.
No more missed emails or cumbersome text message chains. The School Signals Volunteer Signup System streamlines the school’s volunteer opportunities. Create as many volunteer listings as needed and set detailed descriptions and time increments. Parents sign up for one or recurring volunteer opportunities with just a few clicks – from the app or desktop.
Need recurring volunteer help? Some volunteering takes place recurrently during the entire school year. You can manage comprehensive volunteer signup schedules from fall to spring. Parents commit to a consistent schedule in just a few clicks, with the flexibility to adjust individual dates whenever plans change.

Volunteer opportunities are defined by who they are intended for (all parents / grade level parents / classroom parents / after-school clubs’ parents / parent committee members / teachers and staff). Parents can access all relevant volunteer listings in one place on the Volunteer page, and also contextually in the applicable communication hub for classrooms, after-school clubs, events, and groups.
Yes. Time-based volunteering refers to volunteer opportunities that take place at a specific date and time. For instance, you might request sign-ups for Cafeteria volunteers from Monday through Friday at 11 AM, and within the listing, offer two options for sign-up: food serving and table helper. You can set how many volunteers you need per task.
Yes, many volunteer opportunities at the school do not require a specific time; instead, parents can contribute on their own schedule. For instance, many coordinator and donor roles, such as classroom supply coordinator, materials prep helper, event donation contributor, and donor/fundraiser, do not involve exact time commitments. You can use the volunteering system for sign-ups to these roles and only include the sign-ups’ due dates.
Yes. Teachers can add their classroom volunteer sign-ups in School Signals. For instance, a teacher might be looking for a few parent volunteers to help with a classroom party or volunteers to organize classroom materials. The system also allows assigning a room parent to coordinate the classroom volunteer listings, thereby reducing teachers’ workload.
Yes. Volunteering is an integral part of many school events. When families view an event, they can see related volunteer opportunities. Many events require parent volunteers to run smoothly.
For instance, a field trip may ask parents to volunteer in different roles, or a fall festival often offers many volunteer opportunities. A teacher or classroom parent may request a few parents to host a craft table. A book fair is often organized by the school’s PTA/PTO, with volunteers staffing check-out stations. The opportunities are expansive.
Yes, parents can be assigned parent admin rights that allow them to list volunteer opportunities in the system.
